Norfolk Island Regional Council Animal Import Permit
In order to import an animal into Norfolk Island a permit must be granted by the Norfolk Island Regional Council. In addition, you must comply with the conditions set by the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources which are available here.
From the 1st of July 2016 the Biosecurity Act 2015 applied to Norfolk Island and this is regulated at a federal government level by the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources. The conditions set under the Biosececurity Act 2015 are not the only requirements that your must meet to import an animal into Norfolk Island.
The Norfolk Island Regional Council regulates the importation of animals under the Animals (Importation) Act 1983 (NI). Councils role is to assess the appropriateness of certain dog breeds and animal species that are imported to the island.
